Description

Lacquer inro with five divisions, and a gold ground. Design in various colours and in low relief, depicting a monkey holding a gohu and seated on a rug.
On the reverse, a prancing horse held by a rope attached to the bridal and passing through a ring to be tied to a hook. The two cord channels represent posts. Fine nashiji risers and lining.
19th century inro, entirely redecorated in the Meiji period. Signature with red lacquer kakihan
