Description

Brown stoneware, thrown, turned, and rouletted, with an applied reeded handle, and salt-glaze. The surface has a very high lustrous sheen. The mug is cylindrical but slightly flattened where the handle has been pushed to make it adhere to the side. Around the middle there is a wide band of complex herring bone pattern applied with a roulette. The vertically reeded strap handle has a flattened kick at the lower end which was applied over the rouletted band.
