Inscription in ink on mount "His beautis are in a vigorous and fluent / drawing and bursts of Brilliancy and light / here was a simplicity in the manner of Etty that / attached his friends firmly to him and I mean / he and that he had an enemy in speaking of his / from life he compared us to a long sunshiny holiday / autographied collections by / C. R. Lesley".
