Description

First one embossed on grey paper, dating 1829, with inscription "the Gallery of Paintings of the late Benjamin West, Esq, PRA, Newman Street / Admit five persons to view" with the word "five" scratched and "2" written on top in ink, and "The Sale commences Friday, May 22, 1829" and "Whiting / Patentee". The second one embossed on blue paper, dating 1833, with inscription "is respectfully invited to the private view, on Monday, March the 4th, of The Collection of Paintings, at Exeter Hall, Strand, which is to be sold by auction by Mr Geo. Robins, on Thursday and Friday, March 14 and 15, 1833" and "Whiting / Patentee" and in ink on top "Lord Arden" and with "Monday" and "4" scratched and replaced by "Thursday" and "7".
