Tis sweet to Love
Very small valentine (70 x 50 mm). White, embossed and gilded lace-paper with central circular aperture containing a coloured lithograph of a blond-haired boy with a canary. A paper swag with printed motto at lower centre: 'Tis sweet / to Love'. Opens to hand written message: "Mamma / 1861". The inscription appears to be written in the same hand as those found in P.14342-R-7 and P.14342-R-27 and which would seem to identify these cards as a group that were sent from a mother to her child in the 1860s.
