Valentine card
Printmaker: Dobbs, Henry
White lace-paper of a design of corals and shells. A central aperture with a net blind studded with red-brown resin droplets (to appear as jewells or sparkling water droplets) over a panel of cream silk with hand-painted flowers. Pink silk roses with hand-coloured details and white silk leaves mounted over the net. A cut-paper book with silvered cover and hand-painted flowers. The four paper leaves of the book incorporate a small chromo of flowers with handwritten motto: 'Affection' and the next leaf inscribed 'Sincerity' and a final small chromo of a child amongst flowers. 'DOBBS & KIDD & CO' blind-stamped at lower right. The front-paper is pasted to the back-paper.
