History note: Houthakker, art dealer, Amsterdam (probably Louis (1926-2008); Howard Phillips from whom purchased in March 1991 by Sir Ivor Batchelor, St Andrew's Fife; Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor; Sir Ivor died on 24 April 2005; on loan since 2006 (Syndicate of 30 January); entered collection after Lady Batchelor's death.
