Verge alarm and striking coach watch, in a silver pair case.
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'MARTIN KRAPP A MANNHEIM'.
Balance cock with table with wings, pierced and chased with military trophies and mask at neck. Polished steel coquette, added over engraving. Cock foot pierced and chased with narrow border. Brass balance with three thin arms. Pierced, engraved, and chased slide plate. Silvered brass regulation disc with radial Arabic figures 1 to 8 with flower half marks, centre flower.
Fusee iron post pierced. Case bolt protrudes though brass edge. Plain pontance and counter potance riveted to back plate. Hour striking and alarm barrels engraved, hour release level under pendant.
Pillar plate with five square baluster pillars, third wheel sunk.
Fusee and chain with ratchet set-up under barrel. Verge escapement. Train planted clockwise. Alarm train with star wheel on second wheel. Anti-clockwise hammer, train of five wheels, spherical weight 'fly'. Alarm train planted clockwise. Striking train with hammer under main wheel, five wheel train with brass cylinder on 'fly' pinion. Striking train planted clockwise.
BRASS EDGE: With engraved edge, joint screwed on.
DIAL: White enamel on copper, counter enamel. Radial Arabic 5 mins. numbers, ladder minute ring, radial Roman chapters, inner circle. Brass alarm dial, with radial stamped Arabic chapters with holes between.
HANDS: Pierced minute and hour hands.
BELL: 6 holes through and edge cut away at pendent. The inside is scratched '1420106'. The central square hole dose not fit case pin.
INNER CASE: Silver, pierced and engraved sides. The back is engraved with two winding holes. Inside two cast in marks 'JP'? in rectangular recesses. Two winding holes filled in, burrs on side piercing. Push piece through pendent. Plain bezel split at joint, recess at 2 o'clock engraved 'S' and 'N' at ends.
Outer case (A): Silver, pierce and engraved at the side. The back is plain with an engraved centre. The inside of the back is scratched 'no 562'. Plain centre soldered to case.
The dial was added later, in the second half of the 18th century
