Verge watch in rock crystal cruciform case, in 17th century style
MOVEMENT: Cruciform top plate, rounded at all four ends, plain fusee cock. Balance cock pierced with wide borders, polished steel coquette and engraved foot. Brass balance. Hairspring under balance (no method of regulation), 18th century fusee, circular fusee iron post with flat to clear steel pillar. Adjustable potance across end of plate. Adjustable counter-potance. Cruciform pillar plate with four pillars, two cylindrical steel pillars and two turned baluster pillars from part of the dial plate, which is screwed to the pillar plate by three screws. Under the dial is a recess for the motion to work. Fusee with gut, set-up click under barrel, barrel with two lips. Verge escapement. Train in line, with centre wheel.
DIAL: Silver gilt, two feet, dial secured by a screw at III o'clock. Ring at edge, radial Roman chapters on polished islands, dots between, background matt, scalloped ring and ribbon inside with simple flower in centre. Winding hole at III o'clock.
DIAL PLATE: Four sections around dial forming cruciform shape with rounded ends, all secured by screws to pillar plate, and all engraved with flowers, nibs to fit case.
CASE: Body, cruciform gilt brass frame, plain with cut-out for movement. Crystal cruciform body, not well cut, with rounded inner ends, faces with light scratches.
BEZEL: Cruciform gilt brass frame with cut crystal cover.
