Verge watch in rock crystal case.
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'C Bobinet'. Balance cock with pierced and engraved table, neck with rectangular hole, foot pierced and engraved fixing screw near neck, table and foot with irregular edges. peculiar steel and brass balance (not a compensation balance, but with a bevelled steel rim superposed upon a flat brass one). Blued steel set up click and decorated spring. Plate re-gilt. Rectangular fusee iron post of quarter circular form. Brass case bolt spring on underside of dial plate, steel nib projection through dial plate. Rectangular potance and counter-potance both riveted to top plate. Both potances are replacements, not gilt. Pillar plate with four turned urn-shaped pillars with square feet. Split gut fusee, barrel with two lips. Verge escapement. Train, three pinions, planted anti-clockwise.
DIAL PLATE: Gilt brass, three feet, circular with four tabs to fit case, engraved floral pattern outside dial.
DIAL: Gilt brass, outer ring, radial Roman chapters, ladder quarter ring with long lines at half hours, plain centre.
HAND: Blued steel with bulbous pointer, short counter balance.
CASE: Rock crystal. Twelve scalloped sides and twelve scallops to flat back, with twelve shallow cuts to concave centre, circular recess with rounded bottom for movement. Gilt brass frame, engraved inside and out, having outside scalloped as body. Rock crystal cover cut with twelve lobed segments, fixed to frame by twelve nibs between scallops. Pendant and drop securing body by screws through body, and pinned joints to frame. Ring circular. Body back flat and central recess probably cut much later when cover crystal was made. Late 19th century (?)
PROTECTIVE CASE (A): Black leather shaped into case with cardboard inner to body, red velvet inside, with hinge and two 'C' catches and rings. Bezel with gilt brass beaded ring at opening. Two circles of gold pin work flowers, central pin and seven close pin petals. Body with three outer rings of pin flowers, as bezel, gold pin decoration on back. Eight point flower outlined in gold pins with pin flwoers, between points of petals and insides petals.
