Verge striking watch, in gold pair case.

MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Tho Tompion London'. Balance cock with pierced and engraved table and foot, foot with irregular edge. Steel balance. Pierced and engraved slide plate with irregular edge, silver regulation dial engraved with Arabic figures 5 to 30. Blued steel striking stop wheels. Replacement plain locking plate. Top plate engraved as above. Pierced fusee iron post. Case spring on brass edge, nib through dial. Potance riveted to plate. Rectangular counter-potance riveted to plate. Striking barrel with pierced and engraved panel, steel hammer under alarm main wheel. Blued steel pierced gates. Pillar plates with five pillars, three tulip and two turned baluster. Third wheel bar. One blued steel latch to hold brass edge. Under dial stamped '22'. Fusee and chain, tangent set up under barrel, barrel with one lip. Verge escapement. Train planted clockwise. Striking train, weight on last pinion, depthing plug in pillar plate. Clockwise hammer under great wheel. Striking train, five pinions, planted anti-clockwise.

BRASS EDGE: Gilt brass with narrow engraved edge around dial, border of acanthus leaves engraved on the movement side. Fixed by bayonet catches.

DIAL: Gold champleve, radial Arabic 5 minute figures, engraved cushions. Ladder minute ring with small inward pointing 5 minute arrows. Radial Roman chapters, diamond shaped half hour marks. Half-hour ring with outward pointing hour marks. Centre matt. Winding holes, hours at 3.15 and striking at 7.45.

HANDS: Gold spade and poker (early 19th century)

BELL: Straight sides

INNER CASE: Gold with pierced and engraved band, mask at 6 o'clock. Engraved scene at the pendant, back engraved with urn, birds and foliage. H.M. London 1694. Case maker's mark incuse 'GN'. Pendant gold with stirrup bow (both early 19th century). Split bezel engraved with tulips, soft soldered at split.

OUTER CASE: Gold, bezel with four pieced and engraved segments, repousse segments between with flower motive. Back central repousse scene of seated lady, in a garden, playing the lute with standing page? playing a wind instrument, with a gentleman seated behind the lady. Four panels of musical instruments around edge, and four pierced panels.
