Black basalt decorated with glazed band enclosing a lithographed silk-screen print of a circus. Printed in gold on the reverse, ‘One of an edition of 500 in a series of six designs/commissioned by the National Art Collections Fund & Wedgwood’. In the original box with a booklet describing the 'Art Plate' series.

Note

Fabula is one of the designs commissioned from distinguished contemporary artists by the National Art-Collections Fund in 1990 for six plates in a limited edition of 500 each to be sold in aid of the Fund. The project was sponsored by Glaxo, and the plates were made by Wedgwood. Fabula was designed by Sir Edouardo Paolozzi, CBE, ARA (1924-2005), Two examples of the Fabula plate are in the Wedgwood Museum, accession number, 11656 and 11430.
