Verge watch in gold consular case
MOVEMENT: Full plate movement engraved 'Jn Le Roy A Paris'. Balance bridge, table pierced and engraved, polished steel coquette. Steel balance. Silver regulation dial, radial Arabic figures 1 to 7. Gold regulation hand. Fusee cock engraved. Counter-potance engraved and fixed by screw. Plain flat brass cock for contrate pivot (not gilt). Plain turned fusee iron post. Adjustable potance. Counter-potance with polished steel end plate and adjusting screw. Polished steel case bolt in slot in plate, truncated conical face. Pillar plate with four five-sided baluster pillars, under dial side with centre recessed for motion work, case bolt spring and contrate pivot cock, plate scratched '5849'. Fusee and chain with tangent set-up. Verge escapement. Train planted anti-clockwise.
DIAL: White enamel on copper. Radial Arabic 5 minute figures, ladder minute circle, radial Roman chapters, inner circle. Winding hole at 3.30.
HANDS: Gilt brass Louis XVI style.
CASE: Gold, single backed consular case. Back engraved with scene of bridge in front of a town gate. Bezel engraved with three separate floral designs with lined background. The inside is stamped with incised maker's mark of a crown over 'DII' or 'DIJ', over 'F'. Scratched on the inside in 'B3102', 'P12080', '2X79' and 'KO/-'. Scratched inside bezel 'KO'/-' and 'l/r/-'. Cylindrical pedant, flat cheese top. The stirrup bow has been repaired.
There are some doubts as to the authenticity of this piece.
