Description

Gilt brass outer case covered with black shagreen.

OUTER CASE: Gilt brass covered in black shagreen with pin decoration. Bezel with wide gilt opening. Side covered with shagreen, with circle of decorative headed gold pins alternating with small plain headed pins, except at hinge where only decorative headed pins are used (two decorative pins missing at hinge, one decorative pin missing, and two plain pins above 3 o'clock). Body covered with black shagreen, with ring of pins at edge, as bezel, but series of decorated pins only around pendant, alternative pattern elsewhere (two decorative headed pins around pendant missing, one decorative headed pin missing). Back with large pattern of gold pins (few missing). Square ended hinge. Pendant slot in body, only nick in bezel. Inside, body and bezel covered in red silk.
