PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: Parchment, i modern parchment flyleaf + 166 fols. + i modern parchment flyleaf, 150 x 248 mm (138 x 175 mm, main text 59 x 175 mm), 19 long lines of main text, written above top line, ruled in hard point

BINDING: nineteenth century, half leather and marbled paper over pasteboards

SECUNDO FOLIO: quare fremuerunt (fol. 3r)

fol. 166v Boethius, De consolatione philosophiae, excerpt from Book V, par. 6, 15-25 (thirteenth-century addition)

SCRIPT: Late Caroline minuscule

DECORATION:
Historiated initial in red penwork with foliage terminal and blue background: fol. 102v Psalm 109, [D, 5 ll.] Bust of a man.

ORNAMENTATION:
Zoomorphic inhabited initial in red, blue, green and beige on a bright blue and red ground, incorporating a dragon, beast head and gold interlace terminals, and a man clambering within foliage coils: fol. 2r Psalm 1, [B, 14 ll.]; red penwork initial containing a beast head and griffin: fol. 65r Psalm 68, [S, 4 ll.]; red or blue penwork initials [2-3 ll.], the larger ones marking the eightfold liturgical divisions of the Psalter, but also highlighted are Psalms 21, 33, 41, 50; red and blue display script.
