Description

Soft-paste porcelain with feather-moulded body and facetted spout, painted underglaze in blue with floral sprays and borders

Soft-paste porcelain, moulded, and painted underglaze in blue. The globular pot stands on a low footring, and has a short cylindrical neck, a facetted upward-tilting spout, a loop handle, a domed cover with ventilation hole, and a cone-shaped knob. The body of the pot and the cover are feather-moulded overall. The two sides of the pot are painted in blue with a different meandering floral spray, and there is a garland of flowers and foliage around the neck. The spout has a small floral spray on its top and on its underside, and there is a a twig with three leaves down the back of the handle. Below the junction of the lower end with the body there is a tiny blue asterisk. The dome of the cover is decorated with two floral sprays and an insect, and around its edge has a border of flowers and foliage.
