Globular celadon vase (squat bottle). Buff coloured stoneware, covered all over with a dark olive-green celdaon-glaze, incised and combed with a peony and lotus design. The vase has a short neck with rolled, everted mouth rim, and wide shoulders tapering to a ridge above the flat foot. It is decorated with an incised ring, circling the mouth rim, and three incised and combed bands of lotus and peony designs.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
