Description

Tomb brick with warrior in high relief. Grey earthenware, modelled and incised with traces of cold paint. The warrior wears armour and an elaborate buckled belt with hands clasped across his stomach. He wears a hat with a `bobble' on top and ear flaps.

History note: Purchased Sotheby's, April 1923, Li Hung Chang's Collection, for £4.0s.0d; Henry Scipio Reitlinger (d. 1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
