Description

Jar. Buff stoneware, thrown, covered in white slip, painted and incised underglaze in iron-brown. High shouldered, wide-mouthed jar with rounded foot and flat, recessed, unglazed base. The shoulders are decorated with alternate flower swirls and lotus flowers within a lined border. The body is painted with lotus flowers and foliage alternately with sgraffito details, again within a lined border. The slip finishes in an uneven line above the footrim. Grooves encircle the body under the slip and glaze.
