Description

Bottle-vase. Buff stoneware, covered in a bluey/white glaze, with applied handles. The vase has a slender neck with everted mouth rim, ovoid body, and slightly flared footrim with recessed, flat, unglazed reddy-brown base. Lug handles with rings are applied to the neck. The bluey/white glaze stops short of the footrim.

History note: Purchased probably from Garrabed (Eastwood & Holt), 20 June 1924, for £1.2s.0d, as Song `Blanc de Chine'; Henry Scipio Reitlinger (d. 1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
