Description

Double gourd vase. Buff stoneware, thrown in sections and turned, covered in white slip, incised and painted in iron-black with sgraffito under a clear glaze. The double gourd vase has a small, tapered neck with no mouth rim. The footrim is slightly flared; the base is very slightly recessed and flat with an incised line circling most of the inner rim, which has white slip and glaze. The upper gourd is decorated with an incised bundle of books and ribbons painted in brown, and the lower gourd with incised chrysanthemums, and leaves painted in brown.
