Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A card with a heavily embossed design of bows and flowers along upper and lower borders and a central, oval-shaped window with an embossed frame around. Inside the central panel is a hand-painted design of blue flowers, foliage and a red heart. The right and upper and lower edges of the card appear to have also been hand-coloured with a blue wash. The card has a fastening of red wool at the left side which functions to hold the inside page in place. The double page inside is printed in blue ink on the left-hand page at bottom left: "British Manufacture" and on the facing page with the verse: "Love's Golden Light / Upon your pathway shine / All / loving thoughts and / hearty greetings / to you / my valentine." Below are printed the directions, "To" and "From", but these remain blank. The style of this card would suggest it to be later in date than the rest of the cards in album P.14343.
