Valentine card

Comic valentine (shoe salesman). A hand-coloured woodcut on one leaf of thin, wove paper, cut from a larger piece. The hand-colouring is crudely executed. A man kneels before the bare female leg placed on top of a stool. He holds a shoe in his hands. His eyes are exaggerated and he appears goggle-eyed. A speech bubble from his mouth: "How high would you like it, Miss?". A printed verse below: "Let me teach you, foolish gaby, / When you wait upon a Lady. / Not to foolish jokes intrude. / Such conduct to a Lady's rude, ..."
