Description

A comic Valentine, lampooning the excesses of ladies' fashion and the so-called 'Grecian Bend' of the late 1860s. Tinted lithograph printed in red and black on white wove paper. An image of a young woman wearing a dress with a bustle and with a high and extensive mass of curls at the back of her head. She wears a scarf around her neck and carries a parasol in her left hand. A printed verse below: "In a "Cloud" so warm and cosy / You've wrapped up your pretty chin; / Hoping that the men, enchanted, / To Propose will soon begin." Evidence of folding above the lower edge.
