Valentine card

A cameo embossed 'lace' border with blue colour ground on 4to-sized wove paper. A beige lithographed centre (out of register) and a decorative lithographic inner border of violets, butterflies and birds with a large violet flower at upper centre, all hand-coloured. A verse printed within a 'twig' frame at the centre: "There is a graceful flower whose hues / Are yellow and deep blue / And never do I see that flower / But what I think of you. ..." A hand-written inscription in graphite on the inside right-hand page: "1830". The edges of the paper are gilded. A watermark: WOODFULL and a prancing horse inside a medallion.
