Valentine card

A hand-coloured wood engraving on thin wove paper of a couple in an interior, the lady reclining on a chaise longue and the gentleman holding a top hat, a hovering Cupid carrying a flaming torch on the right. Printed below: "Lloyd, 231, Shoreditch. [204". Lloyd is registered as living at 231, Shoreditch in 1840. See www.edwardlloyd.org. A printed verse below: "In the name of the young God of Love, / Whose votary I have been long, / I send you, from my heart, this epistle / To beg you will list to my song ...".
