Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
Small 64mo-size playing-card-style comic valentine with a simple, embossed border. A die-cut, glazed chromolithograph affixed at the centre; a male figure carrying a truncheon/cosh in his right hand and with the oversized head of a wolf. A long, printed letterpress verse below: "An open foe t'is best to have in strife, / Than a friend who vows he's yours for life; ...". From a series and one of nine examples mounted onto the same album leaf. Two further loose duplicate cards from the series have been catalogued individually.
