Description

Baluster jar and domed cover. Hard-paste porcelain painted with green, yellow, grey, black, aubergine and blue enamels. The shouldered, baluster body tapers towards the flat, unglazed base with rounded edge. The sides are decorated with stylised mountains and waves, sacred objects and flower heads on a scrolling, green ground below similar bands on the neck and shoulders, and above a band around the base. The domed cover has similar decoration and a blue knop.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
