Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A single sheet of thin, white wove paper with a lithographed design, mounted along the lower edge onto a larger sheet of cream laid paper. A border of lithographed acanthus scrolls with black and gold ink surrounds a lithographed verse within a square frame presented in the style of an illuminated manuscript with coloured inks of gold, blue, red and green. Each verse ends with the word, 'forget-me-not', which is handwritten in pen and ink: 'In / pledge that I can ne'er forget / The many happy times we've met / Your presence hallowing each spot / Ive [sic] sent you the forget-me-not ...'. Below the framed verse, within the illuminated design, is a title or motto: 'FORGET ME NOT'. Creases indicate that the valentine has been folded into quarters.
