Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A hand-coloured wood-cut on a single sheet of thin white wove paper, of a couple sitting beneath a large tree in parkland. A lake to the left and a castle on a wooded hill in the distance on the far left. The gentleman, wearing a brown coat, gestures towards the castle with his right hand. Initials are printed at lower left: 'M.W.'. A verse is printed below: 'Domestic bliss my soul adores, / When Hymen's bonds two hearts entwine, / May love and peace their blessings pour, / On you, my love and Valentine'. A graphite inscription on the verso at upper left: '3/- [3 shillings]'.
