Remember Me! Valentine card

A mourning or 'Adieu' valentine. A single sheet of pink coated paper in landscape orientation mounted with white lace-paper with a scalloped edge and central oval window which is backed with pink silk and printed with letterpress in blue ink with a title and verse: 'Remember Me! [in gothic script] / REMEMBER one thou leav'st behind, / Whose heart is warmly bound to thee; / Close as the tend'rest links can bind / A heart as warm as heart can be. / Still, my belov'd! still keep in mind, / However far remov'd from me - / That there is one thou leav'st behind, / Whose heart resipres for only thee'. The card is not fully adhered to the album leaf and can be lifted up to reveal a date written in ink on the verso at upper right: '1855'. This inscription is transcribed in graphite onto the album leaf below the card.
