How to Treat A Husband Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A small rectangle of black transparent cellulose mounted horizontally inside a white lace-paper sleeve with a central oval window, a decorative lithographed border in gold ink part obscured. A title and verse is lithographed in gold ink: 'HOW TO TREAT A HUSBAND / You should treat him with kindness, love and esteem, / And never give way to ill nature or spleen ... If a wife by her virtue fulfils but her part / A harbour will find in her husband's fond heart.'. One of a group of lithographed cellulose valentines mounted or found loose in album P.14417-R, some of which are contained in lace-paper sleeves and/or envelopes. Although a maker's name cannot be found, P.14417-R-12 was probably made by J.T. Wood, like most of the other cellulose valentines contained in this album.
