Description

Dish. Hard-paste porcelain painted in green, iron-red, blue, yellow, black and grey enamels, with gilding. The dish has shallow, rounded sides with outcurved rim resting on a low, tapered, double footrim. It is decorated with a woman and child in a garden beside two trees and a rocky table bearing pot plants, and a mythical dog nearby. The scene is encircled by a border of octagon and square pattern reserved with six panels containing symbols: a lute, a shell, bundles of books, scrolls, a chess board and a sonorous stone.
