I'll Write to Thee Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A small valentine of white lace-paper and central silk panel inside an envelope of white wove paper with lace-paper verso and lace-paper edges on two of the flaps and a gold foil 'seal' still affixed. A red slip paper is inserted behind the lace-paper and an oval window contains a panel of pale pink silk with letterpress title and verse in black ink: 'I'LL WRITE TO THEE. / I'll write to thee! aye, fondly write, / My every whisper'd sigh, / My thoughts by day, my dreams by night, / My wish that thou wert nigh, / I'll send thee vows as softly sweet / As breathings from the south; / A kiss - but no, when next we meet, / A kiss by word of mouth.'. A handwritten inscription in black ink on the inside of the uppermost flap: 'From J.H. / April 2nd 1853.'.
