Description

A comic valentine on thin, white wove paper folded in half. A hand-coloured woodcut of a young, bearded man smoking a pipe, wearing a brown coat and green checked trousers. A letterpress verse below: 'Let Tailors still do all they can, / Fine clothes will never make a man; / Your whiskered jaw and nobby hair, / You sure have stole it from a bear. / Swell out of luck; now, if your head / Was filled with brains in lieu of lead, / You'd long have known that dress, though fine, / Won't win me for your Valentine.'. The valentine has been folded several times.
