A comic valentine. A hand-coloured woodcut printed on a single sheet of thin, wove paper which at some point was folded into quarters. An attractive young woman seated in an interior engaged in embroidering a heart. She wears a red dress with a large brooch of two hearts pierced with an arrow. A bird cage containing a blue bird hangs above her to the left. A letterpress title and verse is printed below: VALENTINE. / At knitting and netting I'm told you're quite clever;- / Let Cupid, dear girl, knit our two hearts together; / We'll pass our time happy, and free from all strife, / Only say you'll consent to become mine for life.'. The publisher's details printed in letterpress below: '[London : J. Fairburn, Featherstone St., City Road.'.
