Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A comic valentine. A hand-coloured woodcut printed on very thin wove paper with an embossed border on the recto. A man wearing a top hat, blue jacket and white gloves is seen in three-quarter profile. He holds a snuff box in his left hand and pushes snuff up his nose with his right. A letterpress verse is printed below: 'What snuffy, what a nasty habit, / It turns your nose up like a rabbit, / Be sure of this if you go on. / You will by girls be left alonge. / Fo[r] never in this world will they, / Be wed with one who snuffs all day.'. A price written in graphite on the verso at upper right: '1/- [1 shilling]'.
