A hand-written note in black ink on a sheet of white wove paper, dated 6th June 1942 and signed 'Stephen Gaselee', addressing 'Scholfield' [Alwyn Faber Scholfield, librarian at C.U.L., 1923-1949] at the University Library ('U.L.C.'): 'Dear Scholfield, I do not know whether printed Valentines come into the sphere of U.L.C.: if not, please pass on to the Fitzwilliam. I can just remember them - but only just - in my childhood. Yours sincerely Stephen Gaselee'.
