Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A small cutwork valentine on white laid paper, folded in half with a panel of orange silk inserted inside double-folded paper at the left side. The paper is cut around the panel in an arch with small circular perforations and scalloped design around the edges. The silk panel is mounted, in landscape format, with delicate cutwork silhouettes in gold and silver paper of a hunting scene in a forest: two trees of silver paper with men on horseback at the far right. A boar and stag pursued by dogs through the trees. Birds in the air at the centre and far right. The opposite leaf is folded and cut away with cutwork design of two stag heads (one with antlers missing), flanking a cutwork heart. One of six cutwork valentines of a similar design, all with silk panels, silhouetted cutwork pictures and with cutwork mottoes/emblems.
