Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A small cutwork valentine on white laid paper, folded in half with a panel of blue-green silk inserted inside double-folded paper at the left side. The paper is cut around the panel in an arch with small circular perforations (backed with pink-coloured paper) and scalloped design around the edges. The silk panel is mounted, in landscape format, with delicate cutwork silhouettes in white and silver paper of a lady being serenaded by a male figure playing a violin (of gold paper with a red paper bow), trees to either side and birds flying in the air. The opposite leaf is folded and cut away with cutwork design of two male heads wearing hats with an unidentified cutwork object at the centre. One of six cutwork valentines of a similar design, all with silk panels, silhouetted cutwork pictures and with cutwork mottoes/emblems.
