Note

From a brief record in the Museum of Worcester's archive, for an 'oven plaque' made in 1857, it appears that James Lane was probably the manager of a firm in London, which had contacts with Kerr and Binns of Worcester. The RWB in the inscription stands for R.W. Binns. J. Stephan may have been a modeller or independent producer in Worcester, as his name is not recorded at the factory. The 'Worcester' in the inscription would therefore refer to the location of Stephan rather than Lane, but this is uncertain.
