Description

Soy sauce pot or water dropper. Hard-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue. Circular, of doughnut shape, with a short curved spout and handle in the form of a pipe. Rounded unglazed base. The rounded sides are painted on the outside with birds (plover) flying over waves. Two birds decorate the handle and one on the spout. The inner ring is undecorated.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
