Description

Although Lincoln was a prolific mint, only four coins (including this one) struck before c.973 bear the mint name, and they provide the means of identifying a much larger group as Lincoln products. The two other specimens of this issue (in the British Museum and Manx Museum) have somewhat blundered reverse inscriptions, and this new find provides welcome confirmation of the attribution.
