Description

Netsuke, katabori, mouse. Ivory, carved and stained. Figure of a mouse seated on its tail which is wrapped around its body; its two back paws grip the tail at the front. Its upper paws hold onto the inro cord which passes between its legs and by its left shoulder. The body is finely incised to resemble fur and its paws, ears and facial features are finely carved. It has painted black whiskers. It has two inlaid shiny black eyes (horn?). Natural himotoshi formed by the formation of the legs and paws.
