Description

Netsuke: kagamibuta, dancer and musician. Ivory bowl with metal disc and eyelet. Circular bowl of stained ivory carved on the underside with a stylised dragon amongst scrolling foliage. The rim is carved with ruyi heads and the inner rim has traces of green staining from copper alloy. Shibuichi disc moulded with a Manzai dancer and his musician; the dancer is holding a fan which covers half his face. They both wear hats applied in shakudo inlaid with yellow metal (gold/brass?). Kimonos are inlaid with a yellow metal dot motif. The Musician's face and hand, and the edge of the dancer's sleeve are of copper alloy (brown).
