Description

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain painted in red and purple enamels, and gilded. Pattern no. 317

Hybrid hard-paste porcelain moulded, painted overglaze in red and purple enamels, and gilded. Of silver-shape with sloping panelled sides, an upward curving lip rising from the shoulder, and high loop handle. Below the shoulder there is a wide border of gold and red flowers with purple leaves with a narrow horizontal band below and a wider band above. On each side of the shoulder there is a gold sprig, and below the lip an arrangement of stylized gold foliage. A gold line runs around the upper edge and down both sides of the handle and another encircles the inside of the upper edge, then joins at the back to run down the centre of the handle. Another gold band encircles the body a little way up from the lower edge. The glaze on the base of the interior is speckled with grey.
