The oval cover rises steeply to the middle where there is a hole, covered by the oval conical knob. The sides of the bowl are decorated with pattern 631 comprising sprays of vine leaves, tendrils and bunches of grapes, and there are gold bands round the lower edge, the top, and the sides of the handles, which also have a longitudinal gold stripe.
