Reclining ox
Netsuke: katabori: Reclining ox. Wood, carved and stained. Figure of a reclining ox, its head turned to the right. Its halter is attached to a ring through its nose and thrown over its back; bulging eyes inlaid with ivory and black pupils. The body is lightly incised and stained. Himotoshi on the underside.
History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
