Queen of Diamonds

Coloured corrugated papers, layered and bonded with PVA; steel pin
White, red and blue corrugated papers. The white layered to form a diamond shape, the layers running parallel to two of the sides. A thin red line runs around the left hand acute corner, joined by a red line across the body to form a triangle. A similar, but slightly smaller triangle sits around the right hand corner. On the back a long steel pin attached at two points.

Anne Finlay was a featured artist at the Contemporary Applied Arts showcase ‘Architectural Jewellery’, held in London, September 2017.
InterestAnne Finlay (b.1953, Wick, Scotland) studied at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen. She has worked with a range of materials, including PVC, stainless steel and acrylics, laser cut or stamped out with dyes, scored, folded and glued. Her work is sculptural and plays with rich colours and geometric shapes. A more recent interest is in paper, a natural material which offers new freedoms in design and making, including simple, slow hand-building processes. In these pieces, she has layered strips of corrugated paper with PVA, creating bold, 3-dimensional blocks of colour and pattern and exploiting the flexibility of the strips to explore curves.
