Description

Netsuke: katabori: Toolmaker. Boxwood, carved and stained. Seated figure of a toolmaker with a smiley, wrinkled face, sharpening the teeth of a saw which he steadies with one foot. Himotoshi on the underside of his leg alongside the mark.

History note: H.S. Reitlinger (d.1950); the Reitlinger Trust, Maidenhead, from which transferred in 1991.
